SCHOOL OF MISSIONS
SCHOOL OF MISSIONS
Is it time to step out of the boat ?
Are you sensing God nudging you towards missions but you’re unsure what to do next?
Do you feel called to bring the Gospel to Unreached Peoples?
Are you wanting to be involved on the mission field in an area like health, business, the arts, education, Bible translation or relief and development?
Our 2025 School Of Missions may be the launch pad you need!
*DTS is a prerequisite for this school.
During this course you will:
-Gain more of God’s heart for the lost and how you can be part of His great global plan.
-Be equipped to make disciples who make other disciples (DMM).
-Learn how to communicate cross-culturally.
-Learn how to acquire another language.
-Learn how to translate the Bible orally (OMT).
-Increase your awareness and understanding of Spiritual Warfare.
-Learn more about Intercession/prayer and worship in missions
-Learn how to look after yourself emotionally, mentally and spiritually so you can thrive in another nation!
After the 12 week ‘launch pad ‘ you will have the option of either:
– A 3 month ‘exploratory’ Internship in missions working in an existing team in one of our target nations: Nepal, Cambodia, Japan, Philippines, Fiji or here in New Zealand.
– A two year Internship with an existing YWAM team in a nation you feel called to.
Much of your time in the Internship will involve language and culture learning so you can connect with the local people.

There will be a different speaker each week covering topics such as Cross-Cultural Communication, Church Planting, Language Acquisition, Self Care on the Field etc. There will also be regular times in our Furnace Prayer Room and Intercession times for Unreached Peoples. We will have experienced Missionaries sharing with us and you will be part of doing “simple church” each week. There will also be training in prayer support/ fundraising and of course some practical work duties !
Yes – you will be doing street/community Outreach a few hours each week seeking to connect with/disciple other nationalities living in NZ.
No, we ask you to prayerfully consider where the Lord may be calling you and we will pray/consult with you to discern where you are to go. It needs to be in a nation that has a different language from yours and has many unreached peoples (i.e. a “Frontier” location). We will also be wanting you to become part of an existing YWAM Frontiers team that is based there.
You will be given training and coaching during the lecture phase on raising up prayer and financial supporters for your Internship.
If you definitely know where you are going after the lecture phase then you could get your vaccinations prior to the lecture phase but this is not essential.
If you are not sure where you are going you will find out as part of your Research Project during the lecture phase what is required for your chosen nation and can get the required vaccinations in NZ.
If you know where you are going and don’t want to see your family at home prior to your Internship you could do this. In any case, you will need an onward or return ticket to enter NZ.
